243 Northbourne Avenue project was a revitalization of the building entry area (eastern end), the external courtyard (western end), and the internal ground floor circulation thoroughfare and to link together the external components via a clear pedestrian pathway.
The creation of a main central spine through a number of small circulation spaces allows visitors to experience a path of travel in a more unique manner, commencing at the building entry and transitioning through an airlock, lift lobby and communal area prior to arrival at the courtyard entry. Bold materials emphasize texture and surface and enhance circulation markers including soft finishes, painted surfaces and lighting features to create a self-guided pedestrian movement through selected areas.
