Batemans Bay Soldiers Club – ANZAC Walk

BATEMANS BAY | NSW

The Batemans Bay Soldiers Club ANZAC Walk is a sensitive and respectful tribute to past servicemen and women, creating a contemplative and reflective transition from the arrival sequence into the main areas of the Club.

Arrival to ANZAC Walk is marked by the gesture of a soldier silhouette that signifies the entry or ‘signpost’. As an insertion into the space, the form beyond receives feedback hues from the existing architecture of the club. Undulation in the horizontal plane creates compression and relief experienced when transitioning through the space, whilst in section, the form contours and sculpts in the vertical plane to create display surface and light void.

Materiality is reflective of the respectful nature of its application, yet provides a robust and sensible methodology for its use. The intentional simple and understated signage, attempts not to overwhelm the display to maintain personal experience throughout ANZAC Walk.
