Barton House

Barton | ACT

The Barton House project comprised restoration and renovation of an existing Heritage Listed 1920s cottage in Barton. Previously unsympathetic additions were removed and the main dwelling returned to its original external conditions. Interior spaces were re-programmed and opened up to provide improved natural light and volume. The dwelling opens to an enclosed courtyard to the rear via a set of large stacker doors and a bifolding kitchen servery window. New joinery and finishes espouse a contemporary character without diminishing the reading of heritage details and proportioning. The quality and craftsmanship of the new joinery is a credit to the Matrix Joinery team.
