Mission Control Centre

The Mission Control Centre (MCC) concept engages spectators with the control centre experience, allowing observation and interaction with MCC staff as they monitor and control high-tech and sensitive equipment.

A curved wall of screens spans the spectator’s view through a large viewing window, and graphically displays the mission process. Uplink and downlink lights show real time technological interaction with satellites and other remote technology, flanked with bespoke control desk work points for staff. The ceiling is an array of warped triangular panels with thin illuminated slotted insertions, giving an illusion of the night sky and providing an acoustic and lighting solution for the space.

The plan ensures optimum vision lines are achieved for staff and spectators, and the small space is divided horizontally with the inclusion of a level change that denotes a hierarchy and layering.
